Relaxing Hair By definition, a hair relaxer is a lotion or cream that makes the hair easier to straighten and manage. It reduces the curl by breaking down the hair strand and chemically altering the texture. Most women who decide to get their hair relaxed have curly hair and who want it to be stick straight without any frizz. The results vary depending on your hair type, but usually a hair relaxer will leave your hair straight for about six to eight weeks. Unlike other permanent straightening methods, relaxing your hair will require touch-ups from time to time. |

Black Hair Typing with the Mizani Curl Key
So, What's Your Type?
Have you looked at the
characteristics of the black hair types and figured out which one you have?
Hair typing is about natural black hair types,
The shape of your hair
follicles is what determines how much or how little curl your hair has. The
rounder the follicle, the straighter hair grows; while the flatter the
follicle, the curlier hair grows.
A single head can have
several different textures in it. |

The aftermath of pregnancy can result in shedding and lacklustre hair, but with a few tweaks to your regime, new mums can return to flourishing nourished tresses. The increase of female hormone, oestrogen, has a very good effect on hair growth this leads to a longer growing phase, which results in less hair loss. The average woman will shed around 100 hairs a day, mums-to-be will hang onto the majority of their strands, making their hair look thicker, healthier and longer for the nine month. But unfortunately, the fall out will come. |

Mistreating your hair is not saving money. I'm all for saving money, however, I'm at a lost when new clients arrive at my salon after abusing their hair at home and think they are saving themselves money. For example home weaves. If you can weave your own hair and it looks amazing, then I say," you go girl with your bad self". Don't leave a weave no matter what application method you have used, in for more than six weeks without washing and treating your hair underneath. |

To minimize damage to your hair when wearing a weave choose a high quality human hair. Shampoo and condition your hair regularly ensuring the base and hair extensions are dried thoroughly, oil the scalp if needed. It is always advisable to have a professional sew in your weave making sure it is not sewn in to tightly to avoid causing damage to the hair and or scalp.

Weaves may have pros and cons.
Lets talk about sew-in weaves. There are several types of sew-in weaves it is important to have it done by a professional, who should advise you of the right weave for you. Your lifestyle and your ability and willingness to maintain a proper upkeep is key. A sew-in can last 6-8 weeks. It is important to ensure that the weave is not sew-in too tight, as this could lead to hair loss due to excessive tension. Bonding weaves are more of a temporary situation and last 1-2 weeks sometimes longer. |

Tips on how to wrap your hair when preparing to dry it or for bedtime
It is always recommended that Afro hair be wrapped at night to protect it from moisture lost therefore reducing the risk of breakage and making it ease to manage and style everyday. Wrapping your hair will reduce the use of straighteners, whether its your hair or a weave.
Step 1:Wash and condition your hair. Apply a leave-in conditioner, wrap foam or setting lotion appropriate for ethnic hair. |
